What do you think about euthanasia?

Personally i think its wrong. Euthanasia is actively helping to end someone's life and that is illegal in this country. I think people should be dying in their own time. Who knows what miracle might happen.
Give back up and reasons to your answers please!!! and if could not bring any religion into it that would be great because im not studying the religious views on it, although i am muslim. thanks

Haram sis, you don't have the right to end anyone's life. Those going through any trial of a painful debilitating illness should excercise patience until the time of passing insha Allah.

    Evil person above me^^^

There are enough people killing themselves as it is, we don't need to pay someone to do it for us.

    Well, isn't that like suicide?

A suicide also wants to end his or her life for his or her own reasons; but, it's still a Crime.

How is Euthanasia any different, except that this is assisted by someone else?

Then, the question is what's the difference with murder, regarding the one who is helping there, since that's what we you call willingly taking another human life, isn't it?

I'm all for it. If someone wants to end their own life who am I to say they can't? If someone has been diagnosed w/ terminal cancer, who am I to say "no you can't die peacefully on your own terms." "You just have to suffer and drift in and out of a morphine coma for the next 3 months."

We put animals out of their misery and call it humane. Why should our treatment of our own be any different?

Its like suicide and suicide is pohibited in Islam, its for Allah to decide when you die you can not choose when you die.

    Peace.

As a Muslim, i think it is wrong. The Quraan says that life should not be taken in this circumstance.

in my opinion, if the person is dying of a terminal illness or in severe pain that cannot be hoelped or cured, it is THEIR choice if they want to end their suffering.

personal choice just like everything else.

Some people who argue against euthanasia, have never experinced real suffering, nor witnessed it.
My wife took six years to die (she was ill long before that) but for the last 6 years of her life she never left the settee, and never went outside the house except for her visits to the hospital - and even that was difficult.
Basically, she could barely breathe for those 6 years (without an oxygen machine). Each day became more difficult to breathe as her tubes grew narrower. It was like a six-year gradual strangulation. She often prayed to die. It was a blessing to her when she did - she told me before she died.

Her life was worse than a living death. And there are thousands in the same boat. She would have chosen euthanasia in a second, given the choice.

You say: "and if could not bring any religion into it that would be great because im not studying the religious views on it, " AND THEN YOU POST IT IN A RELIGIOUS SECTION - A SECTION WITH WHICH IT HAS NO CONNECTION WHATSOEVER.

HOWEVER: I think it should be left to the person who wants to end his/her life IN CLEAR COLLABORATION with the person/people who care for that person. What MIGHT happen in the future in the way of medical discoveries is of no interest to some poor soul who may well be in constant severe pain or doubly incontinent.

It's murder, either of someone else or of oneself.

Since you mention that you are Muslim, I hope you don't mind that I mention I am a practicing Catholic.

I agree with your statement 100%, especially "who knows what miracle might happen", and I have witnessed and have been part of such miracles. I wrote an article on just such an event. If you wish to read the article, click the following link:

as a muslim and a strong believer in Islam, i dont agree with euthanasia since its like rejecting what God has written in your fate...its for God to decide when your death time will be ,not the person himself.

    Salaamu alaikum,

I'm for it. my grandfather has cancer, all he can do now is sleep and when he's not, he just closes his eyes, he cannot bear the pain. there's nothing else the doctors can do for him, so right now he's just at home waiting for death in terrible pain. it is obvious that he doesn't want to continue on like this. in the beginning he was positive, he tried to walk around and eat and talk, but he can't do that now. he is so thin. i remember him when he used to be so tall and big and strong and bright, and what i see now i do not recognize. my father has talked about this, it is not easy, but i know my grandfather cannot live his last days in pain. of course we can only do it with his consent, and may Allah (SWT) guide us. please brothers and sisters pray for my grandfather.
