Used to live in Juan Dolio in the South, though this is not so popular now with the tour operators.

Puerto Plata area is busier with things to do. RIU hotels are really good - all inclusive, additional restaurants, beach ect all really good - enjoy!!!

I was there on a short trip.

Riu mambo I don't know but Puerto Plata is a beautiful town! Friendly people and a bunch of good fish food.
This trip is worth to do. But make sure that you speak Spanish!

Puerto Plata has a lot of tourist i heard it's beautiful !, i've never been but would love to go. they have beautiful resorts

Puerto plata is nice and the resorts are great. Over all Dominican's are hospitable (it is cultural). I have friends in different cities in Dominican Republic.

I would also recommend Rio San Juan. It is one of the prettiest beaches I have ever seen in Dominican Republic.

Ive been to dom rep and loved it there, the people are really friendly, beaches are great lots of things to do there, I didnt stay at the rui mambo but my next door nieghbour did, she said it was lovely, very clean and good food, she is actually finding out about booking next year for 3 weeks at the same hotel because she enjoyed it so much!
