Currency in the Dominican Republic?

Question

Normally when I go away I use my Nationwide debit card (as it has a low foreign usage fee) and withdraw from the local ATM's. Would this be the best course of action in the Dominican Republic?

I would take some money with you, as you can't rely on ATM machines being near where you are staying ect, and its good to have money for tipping and small purchases perhaps from the beach sellers ect. You can always use your card if you have a bill to settle at the hotel.

Have a great time, the Dominican has lovely beaches, lots of things to do!

Welp if your with bank of america, they have an agreement with Nova Scotia bank "Scotia" bank.... ATM withdrawl is free,,, WOOOHOOOOO!!!!!! Bank of america is awesome! same w London & others.

take money with you, take some peso's and some usd, spend the peso's first, the reason i say to take dollars is that some shops and trips have their prices in dollars and if you try paying in peso you sometimes get ripped off with the exchange rate. Nationwide cards do work out there however some atms run out of money or just dont work for a while for some unknown reason! And remember to tell your bank you are going there as lots of cards get blocked as a security measure if your bank doesnt know your out there! and make sure you have your 10 dollars ready for the entrance fee.
