    Try nicotine gum/lozenges.
You still get the nicotine so you aren't going cold turkey, and you won't be as stressed. However you won't feel guilty for smoking :]

Just keep focussing on the little person you've done it for. Try to find activities to occupy your hands and mind- reading, knitting even (maybe a few hats/ booties for baby?). When you've had your first scan carry their picture with you- if tempted to buy cigarettes have a look at the pic for willpower.

If you're in UK phone the NHS Stop Smoking line, as they have specific advice for pregnant women:

You CAN do this, and well done!

ahhh, do i! Im 22 weeks now, but i can remember being in your shoes believe me. I had been smoking for 5 years i know how hard it is. I do probably have a puff here and there now but i plan on being completely quit befor the baby comes, this is a very hard habit to break, but you just have to think of baby. This is the only thing that has helped me, you have to find something to ttake its place, sweets sunflower seeds gum ect. and if that doesnt work remember that stress it the WORST thing that you can have in pregnancy. My doc told me not to quit cold turkey because the stress of it was so terrible. Stress causes high blood pressure and can lead to things like pre clampsia (spelling?) So if you are finding it impossible to quit right away taking a puff here and there is not as bad as the stress you are dealing with. But if you can quit and stay quit now. it just gets harder im telling you. good luck

try and remember that youve done an incredible thing-giving up smoking will mean your baby will be healthier.my nan smoked during both her pregnancies and both her children(my mum and uncle)have asthma-and have suffered there whole lives for the mistake my nan made.so you're choice is brave and brilliant.make sure you eat good food with good vitamins in so your baby is getting the nutrients it needs.as for the stress, there isnt much you can do about it except try and relax. But dont fixate on the idea that your being stressed will cause you to miscarry.if you get to the 12 week mark you are much less likely to miscarry anyway so focus on getting there.some studies you read will claim there is a link between stress and miscarriage, others emphatically say there is no link at all.and remember every single woman since procreation begun will feel stressed at some point during thir prgnancy-particularly the very beginning and very end so what your feeling is pretty normal.

If I found out I was pregnant, just knowing that it can cause harm to my baby is reason enough for me to quit & be happy about that decision. You have to remember that smoking is only a MIND thing & you can't let it control your life.

I was a smoker for 9 years before I got pregnant.. When I found out I was pregnant I was 41/2 weeks along and I actually took one more smoke and quit. One thing that helped me.. I was on here around that time frame and was having really bad cravings and I read a post on Y/A about a mom who was in week 20 something and she said she wasn't able to quit but every time she smoked her baby would start kicking and moving about.. So for me hearing that was enough to first of all break my heart but second of all keep me from smoking.. I have not smoked for over 6 months now (again from quitting cold turkey) and I feel SOOOO good.. I can breath better than ever before.. I can actually go for walks (while waddling of course lol) longer now than I could go when I was a smoker because I couldn't breath..

You seriously can do this.. keep in mind if you really struggle that much.. 9 months is NOTHING compared to the 40 years of your child life of guilt you would be carrying if god forbid something happened to your baby thanks to you smoking.

I chew gum or chew on a straw when I get a craving and when I get really stressed or angry I vent to my hubby until the craving goes away.

go to your doc and ask. they'll probably give you relaxation excersises to stop your stress from rising. your baby will be fine - you're doing the right thing, so keep at it.
