How long does it take for police fine to be paid?

I have been fined £80 a public order offence. I have phoned the number on the ticket and given them my debit card details but it is nearly three days since the charge and the money has not gone out of the account yet. How long does it take for them to take the money? Should they have done already? I obviously don't want to double the fine or go to court so need to resolve the situation!

Additional Details

* I have online statements and I have checked and it shows I took money out on Monday but no police fine.
* I have left my paper back home thinking I wouldn't need it again so will probably have to phone my family and make them have to think of t again!

If you check your available balance it is probably showing it is out of your account now. Sometimes takes up to 5 days to leave your headline balance, a trick the Banks use for you to go overdrawn.

Is the ticket genuine, if so, why not contact them and ask the question
