How many Hungarian forints will I need for three nights in Budapest?

I am going with my boyfriend on Friday for our two year anniversary :) I am a bit short on money at the moment, but I hear it's mega cheap out there? A three day travel pass which allows unlimited access to all trams, buses, etc. is only 2,700 HUF (£8.80). We've also already worked out that the train from the airport to our hotel is only about £1.30.

Would £80 pounds be enough? (That's 24,290.97 HUF)

Thanks, Rachel :)

I think yes. The restaurants are quite cheap but I suggest that don't eat in the restaurants close to the tourist attractions eg. Váci street, Castle, Adrássy Street, and so on, because they are much expensive than the others in the city.
You find some really nice restaurants and cafes near to the bigger universities close to the Deák square for example. You can visit the National Museum (the permanent exhibition is free) and the museums in the Castle of Buda, the Citadel (it's free) and there are some cruises on the Danube, look at here:

Don't think a dinner cruise will be cheap! Been to the city; nice! Some restaurants have gypsy violinists floating amongst the customers: romantic!

There were some nice and not too pricey restaurants around the Oktagon underground stop, as I recall.

I also remember a lovely place called The Shakespeare Cafe, it wasn't far from the river, as I recall.

Budapest is beautiful, I was there for Christmas 2006, it was frickin cold, and I'd love to see it in the spring or summer.

Dinner cruise isn't cheap, my son took his ex-wife on those at least once a week for almost a year.(she was spoiled!)They are nice though but not sure if this time of year is nice to be outside or not.The boats will probably not have you sit outside this time of year and you will lose some of the thrill.
I don't think 80 pounds is enough for two people for three days to do much.
The transportation is reasonable but other things can cost as much or more then in western Europe.
You should try one of the mineral baths for a few hours, the prices vary on which spa you go to.
Edit: I am not clear on if you are planning on getting a room for three days with your 80pounds or not.
If you are a really budget tourist, you can find some cheap places to eat but most menus are ala carte so you could end up spending a bit more then you thought for a meal.Beer is cheap enough but beware if you order mixed drinks or wine, they are sold by the deci and a glass of wine is around 2 to 3 deci.
