Boat / Ferry from England to Nice ?

I am thinking of going to the french riviera next year, but I cannot fly. I've looked into trains, but does anyone know if you can get a boat/ferry from England to Nice/monaco area of france ?

Many Thanks,
kev.

There are cruises from Southampton that stop off in or near Nice. Perhaps you could get off at Nice.

I know that Cunard do them starting at around GBP 1200.

Grimaldi Lines used to have a freight service that also took passengers from Avonmouth to the Med and you could get off at Marseille. I haven't seen it advertised lately. It only ran a couple of times a month and was very expensive. (Cruise prices rather than ferry prices).

If you go by train, you can avoid having to cross Paris by changing at Lille. There are a few direct trains to Nice plus others where you change at Aix-en-Provence

There are ferries from Nice, but they only served Riviera locations. Your best bet is Euro-tunnel to Paris, and then Paris to Nice by high-speed train.

there are cruises that will take you there - but train is by far your best oprion.
The French TGV is so good you can get there in little more than about 5 hours from St Pancras

The simplest and fastest way is by train from London St Pancras International to Nice. You will need to change trains at Lille or Paris. Book ahead for the cheapest fares. www.eurostar.com
