It depends on what you call Santa.

To all the little kids he is gifts and playing with friends and family. But to me Santa is not the person that you see in the mall. He is a special little someone that lives in and warms the heart of us all. He is the joy and happiness that comes from all the giving, the sharing and the loving we do at this special time of year.

He is a charicter made up by an evil corporation to sell their soda. It's all about making money while exploiting the spirit of goodwill and charity.

    I make Jesus a b-day cake on Christmas....and easter...although I eat it.

Though I'm almost sure that this question is a joke in Trojan armor, I'll answer it to the best of my ability. Unfortunately, Santa Claus is not real. I discovered this at the age of 10 when I found a long Wal-Mart receipt of all of my soon-to-be presents on the kitchen table one December morning. I'm completely oblivious as to how you could have gone so long without realizing Santa's nonexistence, unless you've had a history of black-outs. If you'd like to continue to receive presents, you must get them yourself or have one of your friends get them for you.

    I'm sorry for your loss.

you have been a very naughty boy which is why santa hasn't been giving you any gifts :) try and be good until christmas and you might get something. also having a chimney in your house is essential as it is santa claus's key access point to your property.

Santa Claus, also known as Saint Nicholas, Father Christmas, Kris Kringle or simply "Santa", is the legendary and mythical figure who, in many Western cultures, brings gifts to the homes of the good children during the late evening and overnight hours of Christmas Eve, December 24[1] or on his Feast Day, December 6 (Saint Nicholas Day).[2] The legend may have part of its basis in hagiographical tales concerning the historical figure of gift giver Saint Nicholas.

While Saint Nicholas was originally portrayed wearing bishop's robes, in modern times, Santa Claus is generally depicted as a plump, jolly, white-bearded man wearing a red coat with white collar and cuffs, white-cuffed red trousers, and black leather belt and boots. This image became popular in the United States and Canada in the 19th century due to the significant influence of caricaturist and political cartoonist Thomas Nast.[3] This image has been maintained and reinforced through song, radio, television, and films. In the United Kingdom and Europe, his depiction is often identical to the American Santa, but he is commonly called Father Christmas.

One legend associated with Santa says that he lives in the far north, in a land of perpetual snow. The American version of Santa Claus says that he lives at his house in the North Pole, while Father Christmas is often said to reside in the mountains of Korvatunturi in Lapland Province, Finland. Santa Claus lives with his wife Mrs. Claus, a countless number of magical elves, and eight or nine flying reindeer. Another legend of Santa says that he makes a list of children throughout the world, categorizing them according to their behavior ("naughty" or "nice") and that he delivers presents, including toys, candy, and other gifts to all of the good boys and girls in the world, and sometimes coal to the naughty children, on the single night of Christmas Eve. He accomplishes this feat with the aid of the elves who make the toys in the workshop and the reindeer who pull his sleigh.[4][5]

There has long been opposition to teaching children to believe in Santa Claus. Some Christians say the Santa tradition detracts from the religious origins and purpose of Christmas. Other critics feel that Santa Claus is an elaborate lie, and that it is unethical for parents to teach their children to believe in his existence.[6] Still others oppose Santa Claus as a symbol of the commercialization of the Christmas holiday, or as an intrusion upon their own national traditions

He was based on a real individual. Saint Nicholas of Myra was a saint who lived back in the 4th Century in Byzantia (modern-day Turkey) who had the reputation of secretly giving gifts to the poor.

Of course he is real! Most children find out when they are about 10 that he isn't actually the big guy in a red suit, but they do discover that Santa is the warm happy, giddy feelin' of the holidays. Also, you find out that your parents are really Santa, that does not make 'him' any less special though.

He used to be alive, seriously. Saint Nicholas was his real name.
But his spirit still lives on in most people, that's why people still get gifts on Christmas.

In the hearts of every child, he's very real. I still believe (yep - after a fashion - the spirit that is Santa is the spirit of giving without counting the true cost, and I'm not talking about money). Santa Claus is the embodiment of Christlike behaviour if thought of in an unselfish sense.
