Is there a termite problem in the loire valley France?

as I know there is a problem in the south of France

    Yes there is. No matter where you are in the Loire Valley, complete strangers walk up to you and ask if there is a termite problem. Maybe they are trying to strike up polite conversation, maybe they are hitting on you or maybe they want to score dope. I just wish they would go somewhere else.

    Much of the Western half of France has a termite problem, and I think this includes the Loire Valley.

    If you're thinking of buying a property in a termite-infested area, the vendor must, by law and before selling, have the property checked for termites and provide a 'termite-free' certificate. Real estate agents will know if the area is a high-risk one.

    Yes, there are pest termites in the Loire region. The infestation rates are lower than the southern areas, but are rising steadily.

    The termites are Reticulitermes, not particularly voracious, but traditional construction in France is wide open to attack.
