Postal question i don't know the answer to because i don't know much.?

Question

If I post a letter at half three in the afternoon on a monday, will it arrive sometime during the day on tuesday?
If I post the letter from Canterbury to Crawley?

By the definition of first class post it should, but with all the problems with Royal Mail just now I doubt it. I got a letter last week which had taken 4 days to arrive - and that was from the dentist in the same town!!!!
