UK Nightlife/Clubbing question?

Recently, i was talking to a British expat and we were on the topic of clubbing and dancing. I revealed that i can booty dance/grind and he seemed very intrigued and interested.

I'm originally from America and in the clubs there, everyone booty grinds and have close contact with their dance partners. Nothing new.

I was just wondering if the clubs in the UK, do people dance the same (booty grinding/dancing, close contact) as Americans do?

i am an American who has lived in london for 2 years - there is barely aaaaaaaany booty dancing. except when nasty drunk guys come up behind you at scummy clubs. Most of the clubs play more alternative music. For example, i heard Kings of Leon EVERY NIGHT we went out, but i heard Fergie a few times. At least this is how it was in London.

Thanks a lot for your insight! And you're right, the British expat isn't really into R&B, which is probably why he hasn't had any booty grindin' action yet.

A lot of English people are a bit hung-up about this subject because a lot of the time you can chat up a bird only to get a threat of violence from an overly paranoid boyfriend of theirs or a butch girlfriend.
I've enjoyed myself many a time doing booty-grinds in a nightclub (the now closed, House of Commons nightclub) in Eastbourne despite sex (unfortunately) never resulted afterwards.

In some R&B clubs you do get people that dance like that, but it's not really big in the UK. You wouldn't be able to dance like that to house or most dance music though so that's probably why.
