Do my son need passport to go to Edinburgh?

i am going to Edinburgh with my 14 years old son, i have got a passport but my son hasn't
i live in london!!

Citizens of Ireland and the UK under the age of 16, do not need a photo ID, if travelling with their parent/guardian on domestic flights.
This applies to flights with Bmi, British Airways and Easyjet. You don't need a passport either, any government issued photographic ID would do. Should you fly with Ryanair you would both need to have a passport.

no, not at all.
although England and Scotland are technically separate counties they are still part of the same union, namely the United Kingdom, and therefore you do not need a passport or any form of identification to go there.

It depends on the airline. You don't necessarily need a passport but some airlines will require photographic ID. My advice would be to check with your airline

No, you don't. Just as in the U.S. you only need your birth certificate (if you're a citizen, of course) a photographic ID, and your social security card, the same laws apply to English citizens traveling within the United Kingdom. Hope you have a happy trip. :)

BAA say that:

We do not require to see a passport or photo identification if you are travelling on purely UK domestic flights* (i.e. with no onwards international flights).

Please also note: Children under the age of 16 years old do not require identification to travel within the UK.

The airline requires all passengers to provide photographic ID at check-in on all flights including domestic services.

Children under 16 years of age travelling on UK, Italian, Spanish, or French domestic flights can travel without photo identification provided that they are travelling with an accompanying adult.

My assumption would be that he would not require a passport, but I recommend that you contact your flight provider to double check, save having problems when you turn up to the airport. :)
