Is the Maldron Hotel Cardiff Lane close to city centre Dublin? Which stop do we get off from the airlink?

My fiance and I are coming to Dublin in March right before St. Patrick's day. We are staying at the Maldron Hotel Cardiff Lane. I have tried to look on a map of the area and wanted to make sure we're in walkable distance to Trinity College, Dublin Castle, Guinness, and the Dublin Tourist centre.

We also were planning on taking the Dublin Bus (Air link bus 747) from the airport to the hotel, which would be the best stop to get off of??

Also, could we walk to the rail station to take it to Cork? Which would be the best rail station to go from?

Any help and guidance would be much appreciated! Thank you so much!

Exit the airport arrivals lounge and head outside for the Dublin Bus stop/stand. You can buy a Bus Day Rambler ticket for 6 euros from a machine, and save queueing at the tourist office inside. The Rambler allows you to use the Dublin Bus express Airlink service to O'Connell Street (the Rambler ticket is valid on the Airlink 747, the single for which costs 6 euros any, so you payback your Rambler ticket on your first journey!). From there change to the following:

Bus 2, 3, 50, 77, 77a (the latter three from nearby Pearse Street), etc and ask the bus driver to let you off at Macken Street, which becomes Cardiff Lane as you near the river. Don't forget to insert your Rambler ticket into the bus's onboard ticket reader.

Otherwise take a taxi from O'Connell Street - about 6 euros I suspect, but ask the taxi driver first for an estimate.

As Orla C says, it's about a 20 min walk to the city centre from Cardiff Lane.

Trains to Cork leave from Heuston Station (formerly Kingsbridge), well beyond the Guinness Brewery and in the west of the city, about a 30-40 minute walk from O'Connell Bridge. You're better off getting a Luas tram from Abbey stop to Heuston - takes about 15 mins.

Apparently so. If you read the blurb on their website, they are "One of the best located hotels in Dublin city centre"

    and

"Shopping, sightseeing and business districts are within close proximity to this Dublin 2 hotel such as Trinity College, O’Connell Street, RDS, IFSC, The O2 and soon to open Convention Centre Dublin. The Maldron Dublin city centre hotel is within easy access of the airport and main bus & rail stations"

    http://www.maldronhotels.com/hotel-cardi…

According to the hotel's website, the stop to get off from Dublin Bus is at Pearce Street, which is 0.3km from the hotel.

You can travel to Cork by train from Dublin Heuston, which is about 4km away from your hotel.

    Have a good one!

Never heard of that hotel, but there are many many large hotels in Dublin now. Best thing to do is to tell the driver where you're going and ask him to tell you when to get off.

Have looked for Cardiff Lane on Google Maps, and it's a walkable distance, I would say you could walk it in under 20 minutes easily.

The railway station that where trains to Cork leave from is Heuston, and it's not really within walking distance. However, if you want across the Liffey and up to the LUAS line, you can take the LUAS to Heuston station and it only takes a few minutes. If you are taking your bags to Cork, it's much easier to get a taxi from the hotel to the station.

Get yourself a good guide book, I use the DK Eyewitness Guides series.
