Oil spilled all over my engine. Is this dangerous?

So, I forgot to put the oil cap back on after adding a quart and we started to smell burning oil... found the cap, added another quart, put it back on. But is all that oil everywhere dangerous? Can it start a fire? Do we need to pay to have it cleaned? If so, how much will that cost?

it's no big deal. it'll stink for awhile as the oil burns off but it won't harm anything.

No it's not dangerous, just smelly when the engine gets hot. Try wiping the worst of it off with paper towels, any that is left will soon burn off.

PS. Wear gloves. Check the oil level in the engine too.

It is not impossible that it could start a fire if it gets to some electrics and the exhaust manifold. You need to wipe off as much as you can. Even wiped off it will become sticky and hold dust and dirt which could cause problems after a while as that in turn will hold dampness and maybe cause starting problems
