Driving can be dangerous.
Roads and road rules are a bit different.

I'd be going morning's.
Be prepared for at least 5 hour drive.
At night, don't be surprised if you see cars driving without light on.

Be careful of pedestrians and animals on the road.

About 5 hours by car and 6 hours by bus.
I don't know what kind of driver you have, is it a van or Limousine ?

There is one part of the road that should be better in the morning as it's all curves between mountains and the sea on the other side with a double road. It's (El Zafrana) it's about 50 KM long with quite dangerous narrow curves. This will be after 3,30 hours away from Hurghada and before Ain El Sokhna. The sign that it passed when you see Porto El Sokhna buildings, it's the only high hotel buildings in the area. Another sign that is when you see the fuel station and many cafes. That means you passed most of the bad curves.

It's not recommended to use a normal van driver in this road. You need tourism driver and car who knows everything about the road and tourists. I don't know why you need a guide or why to take the guide from Hurghada or not going with a tour bus. May be you are living in Hurghada ! I don't know. Your best time to start moving in the early morning like 5 or 6 AM.

I can give you better advices if I know more about it.

its about a 4 hour drive. its safer to drive at 4:00Am to catch the day from beginning .. you'll drive while its still cool and less cars on the road and you'll catch up the day from beginning. Dont drive while its dark , you cant trust the roads around here.
