Does it always rain in Ireland?

Is the whole of Ireland rainy or are some counties less rainy than others?

We believe we get more than our fair share of rain, but we don't want to be greedy and would be happy for somewhere else to get it sometimes.
The west coast gets more rain than the rest of the country, as we are first when the clouds come in from the Atlantic. It is much drier east of the Shannon, and some places get hardly any rain at all. One spot near Carlow is particularly dry.

For the past few years we have taken a holiday in different areas of Ireland during the end of September and beginning of October and we have generally had decent weather. This year we were staying down on the West coast of Kerry, and we only had two and a half days of rain...the rest of the time it was unbelievably warm for the time of the year. So the answer is that it does rain, but not all the time.

Unfortunately where I live its particularly rainy, I live in the SW of Ireland not far from the Cork/Kerry border in an area that is quite high up. We've had gales and lashing rain for the last 4 or 5 days, the rain is hammering down as I sit here and its making me seriously depressed because it will be like this until March or April probably if previous years are anything to go by. Then we get a nice May and maybe June which turns out to be the summer and it rains for the whole of July and August. October this year was unseasonably warm and dry.

I expect the East of the country hasn't had it so bad just as the East of England has drier weather than the West. Down nearer the South Cork coast there are fields of arable crops grown so the weather must be better. There are no arable crops where I live, just dairying and forestry its too wet to grow crops.

No is lovely & bright here this morning & October we had lovely weather, had lots of sunny lovely dry days, think the seasons are all mixed up as August was rainy but October was just fantastic... & no it doesn't rain all the time...may & June always nice & Sept/Oct..

doesnt always rain here no. just sometimes and its unpredictable. i actually like the rain unless i have something realy important that needs to be done outside.

The west of Ireland is the first land mass that the weather fronts crossing the Atlantic encounter, so that region gets the most rain fall.
The south east of the country is the driest.

Not at all, we have many days without rain. On the other hand in England it rains for 400 days in a year, the other days are dry.
