All Airlines do cheap seats and once there sold then the prices go up.
These tickets always have some restrictions and to change them can cost anything from 50- 150 GBP. or you cannot change full stop and have to buy new ticket.
OPEN TKTS are normally valid for a year , However before you even buy a ticket how are you planning to stay there for a year ?
A normal visa is 30 Days, you can get extra 30 day when in Thailand if you can provide information about your funds or go on visa run to Cambodia every 30 days and come back into Thailand but you can only do that so many times .
Cheap sites for flights from UK are dohop.com, asiatravelmarket.com,alphaflights.com,ti…
Also Eva Air and Qatar are always running promotions.
Unless you have Thai Nationality do not go to Thailand on one way.
You will have to proof that you intend to leave Thailand for another destination before you even leave UK.
Do not be an Illegal overstay in Thailand - you will go to prison then be deported and will not be allowed back in Thailand

I wonder what type of visa you plan to come to Thailand on. You say visit as if you are on a long extended vacation. Depending on your situation you may be required to have a return trip ticket or the airlines may not let you on the plane.

Some people come here on retirement, married to a Thai national, working or studying etc etc and do not require a round trip ticket.

Knowing what passport you hold and how you plan to stay here for two years (visa wise) I could maybe give you a better answer.

added remarks: If you qualify for the O visa and you do not plan to return home after the first year is up you only need to purchase a one way ticket since a open end ticket is only good for 1 year and you plan to stay longer.

Agree with Khun Bob. Consider visa type and how long you can stay in Thailand first. Buying a return ticket is cheaper than buying two one way tickets. Two week ticket won't be exceeded its expiry date to a year. Please check the ticket condition before buying as ticket prices vary. If it's allowed to change the date, you can change it at its airline office or travel agent in Thailand.
    Hope it helps.

if the airlines flies here, they will surely have an office that can facilitate any change -

airlines change their tkt policy regularly depending on the type of tkt & price and classof tkt you fly - & also the cost for changes vary -

one way is usually nearly as expensive as RT -

your question is a little unclear - you want up to a yr but then want a 2 week return and change -

I would go to your nearest Thai restaurant and ask them where they buy their tkts home & then question the agent for restrictions - good luck
