How much do driving lessons and test cost these days?

I want to get my boyfriend driving lessons and his test paid for his birthday. He can already drive, he used to have a provisional driving lisence but that has now expired. So i dont think he will need a lot of lessons, how much does it cost for a couple lessons and how much do the driving tests cost ? any other costs i should know about ?

preferably Bradford, Shipley area.
thanks

in your area the lessons should cost about £22 per hour then there is the theory test at £31 and the driving test £62 plus 2 hours for the driving instructor , hope this helps

Hey a fellow bradford lass, I used to live in Baildon!
It depends which driving school you go with, AA I think are the best, they have ford focus's which are brand new, but its about £45 for 2 hours and they recommend you have approx 48 hours tuition and 22 hours private practise.
The theory test and hazard perception is £31, if you fail you have to wait 3 days before you can take it again. You have to pass this before you book a practical test.
A practical test is £62 for a weekday and £75 for a weekday evening and weekend.
Before you take the test you need to make sure the instructor is free to take you on a final lesson, this also costs (about £45). So on the day of the test it will cost the price of the test and a lesson.
Once you pass the test, the full driving license is free.
If your boyfriends provisional license has expired then he needs to apply for another one otherwise he won't be able to take lessons.
    Good luck to him!

Lessons are about £20 to £24 with a reputable company. Some companies offer deals like 5 lessons for £56 at the moment , but their staff are not fully qualified .If you want to learn properly and have a good chance of passing your test first time, its money well spent to go with someone like Red .

    Expired?.... Re-apply!
Getting rather expensive per hour now.
There is one thing you can do , is to go on a residential driving , excuse the pun , crash course , where you can stay in a hotel for a week to a fortnight but almost certain in passing your test.... there , done and dusted!!. and can save you money and time in the long run.

When I passed my driving test (on the 3rd time!) , it was £7.50 an hour and no real theory examination. The theory part was 5 random road signs shown by the inspector , in the carpark once you had finished your test. Happy days!!

It varies where ever you go. I passed my test years ago and went with a very reputable company and they were pants. Went with a gentleman who does it as his own business brill, but again it is what suits you really.
