Cat C Driving Licence?

Because I passed my Driving licence in Nov 1997 I am not entitled to drive 7.5 Tonne vehicles on my Car licence. I am now 29 years old. Can I apply to learn to drive Cat C vehicles now, or do I have to pass Cat C1 (7.5 Tonne) first?

You can go straight to cat C - think carefully though as it costs a lot of money and there are around 15000 cat C and cat C+ E drivers on the Jobseekers right now

Your best bet would be to go on the DSA website, look for lorry & bus entitlement, then look for the search box ( on right) type in class C1 then search. just done it then scroll down to licence upgrading. All the info is there if you can decipher it!!
