basically this means he is leading you, he is your boss, he is controlling your feet by stopping them. if he wont go forward walk sideways walk left walk right just keep going. if he refuses to move charge his hip poke him or use your lead rope to swat lightly back him up do whatever it takes. my husband gelding pulls this junk with me and it means he is trying to be your herd leader. its the battle of the wills but in order to win you must get him moving. bribery works but doesn't solve the problem in the long run. I did about 1 week of this when my husband brought the new gelding home and after I made him move so many times, he doesn't do it anymore. also just practice at times you really dont need him to come in. just go out and walk him so when there really is a need to get him it isn't a battle then. and no it isn't barn sour he just doesn't want to go it. i guess you could call it herd bound but it is more like he just doesn't want to listen he would rather hang out and graze. step up and be the leader;) good luck
