RECENT UPDATE:
Today the United Nations has evacuated 600 of it's people from Pakistan because of the violence going on there. There will be a small number, 6 or so, remaining, but all other's ar being flown out of the country.
Best to keep your eye on the news and make smart choices based on recent activities. Take heart, things change. I'm sure it will be more calm in the future. And I do believe in following your dreams and desires. Just be smart about it.

No, but I've lived near the Pakistan border for many years.... these are very turbulent times for Pakistan. I want to travel there too. Do you know about the journalist Daniel (Danny) Pearl? His wife was from France. There was a movie made about his experience in Pakistan named "A Mighty Heart".
Contact several organizations (non-profits) that does work within Pakistan on a regular basis and sends professionals to volunteer in this area of the world. Do some research, catch up on the last 10 years, 5 years, 1 year of history. Check your countries suggestions for travelers in Pakistan. Some countries do not suggest their citizens travel in certain countries at certain times because of civil unrest. What is your motivation... this actually may make a difference in your decision or your level of safety and enjoyment.
I went to www.idealist.org and searched under orgainzations, no keyworks, selecting the country Pakistan and I came up with 349 organizations that have work or direct connections with Pakistan.
So, here's a little head start on doing some research on your own.
I would if I were you. I don't think it's a simple question/answer.
