No, Willem van Oranje was born in 1533 in Viande Germany (partly Luxembourg) His family were counts of Viande. He grew up until he was 11 on the family castle in Dillenburg Germany. He inherited the county of Orange in France among properties in the Netherlands and got to the Netherlands to marry Anna van Egmont. countess of Buren, important and very rich for formal reasons as usual for rich people in those days when he was 18. As a young man he lived at the palace of king Karel V to become a man of state and diplomat. King Karel V turned him and his family over to become Catholics in order to keep his new belongings in Orange and the Netherlands. King Karel V liked him much and he met important people. He became Stadhouder of the Netherlands. Under king Filips II, who was also becoming king of Spain one year later, he got more and more in conflict as being an adviser until he had to flee to Germany in 1567 where he planned a revolt. On may 25 1568 he finally returned to battle at Heiligerlee where his troops won.
The Orange family were not Spanish but may have been Catholics in the time they were asked to.
His official titles were Prince of Oranje, count of Nassau, Katzenelnbogen, Vianden en Diez.
He died Delft, July 10 1584 when he was assassinated by a hired killer. He was shot twice by a man who asked him repeatedly for help.
