In the USA, vegetable oil is just another name for SOYBEAN oil. Look on the ingredients label on your bottle of oil.

How do they make vegetable oil?
Take soybeans and squish out the oil... sort of like making olive oil... some oils are expelled which means they are sent through a grinder/centrifuge... sort of like a big juicer.

In regards to weight watchers, vegetables may be no points, but fat and oils will cost you points.

Just about anything made of organic matter contains a certain amount of oil or fat, just as animal bodies (including humans) do. How the fat, oil in this case, is extracted varies, somewhat, depending on the source. Generally the vegetable in question, or the relevent parts thereof (orange oil comes from orange peel, not the flesh of the fruit, for example) is pressed and/or heated to extract the liquid content, which is then separated into its component parts. Oils have a different weight and consistency than other liquids, so they can usually be separated from the water, acids, etc. through further heating--sometimes distilling--or filtering.

some fruits, seeds and vegetables contain a lot of oil, which can be used for food or fuel. To extract the oil, the material is crushed , then pressed between metal plates which squash the oil out. I hope this answers your question. : )

I am pretty sure oil from plants is extracted more from the seeds than the flesh, The seeds are what contains oil, it prevents them from drying out, which allows seeds to live for even some thousands of years, such as some wheat seeds that were from Egypt. I hope I helped.
