May is officially in the rainy season and it can be quite wet, especially towards the end of the month and into June. It will not be as sunny as in December.
It can be cloudy for a few days in a row, so I would recommend you came for more than 1 week. Heavy showers are common, but don't usually last long (and of course, half of them are at night anyway !)
But despite the rain it is still nice and warm - 29deg during a cloudy/rainy day, and you can even still get a tan !
If you came at the end of April, you will be very unlucky to get much bad weather - I would still go, myself !
