Are there any other ways to Malta apart from air?

I was meant to go to Malta with my family for a fortnight next May. I'm excited but I am dreading it because of one thing, I suffer with EXTREMELY bad motion sickness in buses or cars. As soon a they hit more than 60mph I've had it. I start holding my brreath, pushing myself down into my seat, trying to choke myself on my seatbelt and apply footbrakes that aren't there. I shout for someone to tel the driver to stop and it's a very traumatic feeling. I bit my fiance's arm once because I wasn't familiar with my mate's driving. I want to go as I've never been abroad, but my motion sickness is making me so fearful I'm in tears over my first foreign excursion! Please help

Planes don't have the sensation of travelling that cars do, except for 15-20 seconds on the take-off run and a bit more on landing. Through the flight you'll not notice it's moving most times unless you look out of the window and see the ground moving very very slowly far below. Occasionaly there's a bit of bumpy air, but it's not like being on a road, and nearly the whole time the flight will be so smooth you could be sitting in an armchair at home.
My daughter had a very bad time in cars, but is fine with flying.
You can get travel sickness pills from Boots. LLoyds Pharmacy, etc.
They are anti-histamines, the same as bite tablets, so they might make you drowsy.
The travel sickness cure was the answer to what to do with millions of them left over after the war, for troops in the Pacific and in Japan and Burma against insect bites.
They were re-labelled as travel sickness pills and sold out in weeks.
Now everybody makes them.

If you travel overland and by ferry you will have an awful long time being ill with motion sickness. It's a long way by bus or train, or a rough and very long drive and then a long ferry trip.
It would be far better to get the plane, which is far quicker and a lot smoother.
