Full Moon Party Thailand- Do you have to get a hotel on Koh phangan or can you stay on Ko Samui and visit?

Nearly all Koh Phangan hotels are booked up- so i was wondering if it would be suitable to get a hotel on Koh Sumui island and just get a boat over to party then return? Anyone been before?

Hi, I went to the Full Moon Party in February of this year and stayed in Samui. You can get a taxi or a bus - which is basically a pick up truck with seats in the back, its know as a Songthaew to the port. Just tell the driver you need to catch the boat to Koh Pangan for the Full Moon Party and he'll take you there.

From the port which is in Chaweng, you can get a speed boat across to Koh Pangan which takes about 15 - 25 mins. Once you reach Koh Pangan, you will be guided to the Full Moon Party where the entrance is about 100 Baht (£2 approx)

When you have finished partying, you can take the speed boat back to Samui from KPG, but be aware that it is usually manic as hundreds of people are all trying to board the speed boat and get back home.

The Full Moon Party is awesome and i'm going there for New Years Eve this year! If you want to get some cheap drinks to take to the party, stop off at 7-Eleven on KPG and get some there, although drinks on the beach are pretty reasonable.

Have fun, be safe and don't leave your drinks unattended!

Thanks BoT 23, I'm local (think you're too), but heard about these video never seen them before. I think it's almost like a movie. It's been in the news recently, but I didn't follow it till the end. It said (if I got it correct: sorry if I've got wrong) that the Thai guy thought it was a movie he acted in. He seems to be very well-versed in English and the clips were too good for hidden shots..
BTW, the girl in the other trouble was quite beautiful.

In all, these things can happen in reality. There are crooks every where not only in Thailand, but it seems British Channel 4 loves doing documentary about worst side of Thailand always. Just be careful. These time they didn't end with a still shot in front of the Thai Embassy in London saying they refuse the TV crews interview.

I've watched the clips again and wondered why all the police are not Thai???
