Euthanasia is perfectly acceptable and charitable in some extreme circumstances where the person is so ill and in pain and would die soon anyway. I feel sorry for those who do not agree. I saw my ex-mother in law suffering terribly and needlessly of terminal cancer.
She was totally unconscious for weeks on end of what was going on around her so doped up on morphine she was but still screaming in agony as her body was eaten inside by the disease.

So, what you people who scream "murder" have to say ?

i dont think its wrong, because what would you do, if a family member was in so much pain and couldnt move, and they would be able to put to sleep, i think it depends. i dont think it should be allowed for people who are depressed because they can get therapy, but if someone needs to go to be at peace then i think thats right, but its a tricky subject

To me, under certain conditions. I would like to say that I do NOT see life as something we can decide to take away from someone. That's not my argument. But, what about those who are constantly going through so much physical pain (by a disease, old age, etc.), and they have lost the will to live, and they individually decide that they would like their life to end. Personally, I think it would easily be just as cruel to force them to live through the pain.

I think this is a very personal decision to each & every person, it's ok people saying it's bad or evil but what would they do if they were going to die a horrible painful death, me personally i would want to be put to sleep so i didn't become a burden on my family & friends & take up medical attention that wasn't going to help anyway, but as i say it's a very personal matter.

i think that if a person is in severe physical pain and has no quality of life from an uncurable or terminal illness, then i believe that NO ONE has the right to prevent them from ending their life with some dignity. If on the other hand, someone is depressed, then i dont agree with it because terrible and all as depression is, it can be helped and the person can eventually get well.
i do think that it should be monitored, so many abuses of it could happen, and i think that family members should have some say in most circumstances.
the people who say it is murder, it is not as black and white as that. u have obviously never watched someone die a slow and painful death.
some people put it in the same category as abortion, i dont agree with that, a baby doesnt have a choice, a sane adult has. of course it has to be their choice, cos it could also be the case where vulnerable old people are coerced into it somehow due to horrible relatives who dont want to look after them anymore or who want their money. could happen. so i agree that its a persons choice to die in peace if they are in pain.
and as someone said below me, we allow our pet animals to die with dignity and end their pain. when a dog has lost control of his bladder or rectum and pees and poos all over the place, dragging his broken legs behind him, his loving owner will make the decision to have him put to sleep, cos it is CRUEL to let someone suffer needlessly if they will not get better.

As long as they are of sound mind, it is their life. When people put their pets down they say I couldn't stand to see him suffer anymore, why deny a human the same right.

It should be allowed when there is no quality of life left. In cases of paralysis and other disorders..

It should be every person's right to choose to die with dignity.

Euthanasia (unlike abortion) is not murder - you cannot murder yourself.

If ever I had to choose to be euthanised it will be by suffocation between the breasts of Brigid Brannagh (Pamela Moran of Army Wives)!
