Dear 562cheese
Thank you for your question.
The cow's digestive system is adapted for a herbivorous diet. As the diet has relaively low nutritional value, the cow's digestive system tries to extract as much nutrition as possible. The stomach has four compartments and the cow can swallow food quickly, if it is attacked and needs to flee. The food goes into the first stomach compartment, where it is partially digested by bactria. When the cow is safe, it regurgitates the food, so that its back teeth can chew the food into smaller portions, which are easier to digest in other portions of the stomach.
Humans tend to have mixed diets, which include meat. Meat is generally easier to digest and more nutritious than vegetation, so humans have a simpler digestive system compared to cows.
