Smoking in hotel rooms?

Question

I am going to stay in the Newcastle Travelodge. I know the rooms are non smoking, but do they have smoke detectors in them? Would I be able to open a window and smoke in the room or do I have to go outside for a cigarette? Thanks.

No smoking means no smoking. What bit don't you understand?

Really wouldnt chance it. There are smoke detectors in every room and they are very sensitive. Its been known for aerosol deodorant to set off the smoke detectors and therefore the fire alarm. Plus, the majority of the staff will charge you if they even so much as smell smoke (£150 minimum) and then throw you out!!
Bring a jumper, you're best off outside!

All rooms have smoke detectors in them.

As a smoker, you probably don't realize that non-smokers can detect even the faintest whiff of cigarette smoke. Just smoking next to a window will still allow smoke to come into the room. They then have to clean everything in the room (which is the reason for the fine).

Just go outside.

You'll be fine in the Newcastle Travellodge, = manchester is a bit more difficult. If you open the window of your room you should be ok,, provided you watch out for the big air ventilation pipe which runs just past the kitchens.

they all have smoke detectors don;t even think of smoking by the windows as the draught will blow the smoke back into the room .
just go outside,i;m a smoker by the way,sorry

you cannot smoke in any travel lodges you have to go outside there are smoke detectors in all rooms, if you are caught you probably will get fined £1000.00, so is it really worth the risk....go outside to smoke

I stay in Travelodge a lot, sorry but you must go outside. ( I do, in the cold). There are detectors ,and also if the staff smell the smoke when cleaning they will charge you to fumigate the room.
