Sorreto is beautiful! everything seems to be picture perfect. its very small so with in a day or two you can see everything. The best thing its very close to positano.. lots of coffee shops, shopping on the main street, beautiful water, friendly people, and great food.

    I passed quickly by Sorrento.
    Here you can get a lot of information:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sorrento
    You can also go here: http://maps.google.it/ and type "sorrento".
    There you can see some photos, or, if you drag the small yellow man on a road, you can see a "street view".
    Sorrento is famous because it was a vacation resort for Naples middle class, until flight and car travels became affordable (about 50 years ago).
    Now it is not so glamorous.
    The Vesuvius is not quite near Sorrento. You can barely see it.
    Interesting places near Sorrento are:
    * The Amalfitan coast, with Amalfi and Positano.
    * The Pompeii ruins.
    * The Vesuvius volcano.
    * The Capri Island.
    * Naples.
    Beware of pickpockets and con men.
