Problems with my pregnant dog?

Basically my pregnant dog (due in a week and a half) is having big problems standing up. She doesn't move unless she has to (food and toilet) but doesn't seem to be in pain. Is it just the weight of the pups? This didn't start happening until last night when she suddenly couldn't get up onto the sofa or up the stairs. Please Help!

This isn't normal: the strain of carrying the pups is obviouslytaking its toll in the later stages of pregnancy but your dog should still be able to move, feed, drinks ...

If she isn't able to move, how is she goig to give birth?

I advise you check the following:
- Can you see the pups moving?
- Is there a vaginal discharge? (blood, green, yellow)
- Temperature
- Gum colour (pale, congested ...)

If any of the above parameters are present/abnormal, then I strongly recommend you give the emergency vet a call and get your dog seen.

Best of luck, Julien

this is an excellent question for your breeding mentor :)

im guessing you don't have one.
    peachy.
She is under an enormous (no pun intended) amount of strain from the weight and bulk of her puppies, so no, she doesn't want to move, but she should still be able to. My Australian Shepherd still bounds around the house and jumps onto beds and leaps on people to greet them, and she is due in 2 weeks.
Has she been seen by a vet recently? What did her x-rays say about how many puppies are in there, and their size?

I will edit when more information is given.

When my Mexican Hairless was pregnant she too got very big but could still jump onto the bed sofa etc. You could feel & see the pups moving inside her, so I knew it would not be long at that stage. She ended up having them early, so be prepared.

All you can do is just be there with her & make her comfortable.

The last week is sometimes the most miserable, especially if she is engorged with pups.
With that said, you should take her in to see the VET, to make sure everything is going like it should.
