Is Miami Worth Going to for Memorial Day Weekend?

Question

My friends and I (4 guys) want to head down to Miami for Memorial Day weekend. The problem is, we HEAR that it's great down there, but I would like a few more opinions from the wonderful online community :)

P.S. Tell me any info you want to share with me, such as where to go, where not to go. Please no racist material, and please be as honest as you can possibly be. Also tell me about "The Strip." Or the "Royal Palm" hotel.

i personally think the crowd is too ghetto for my taste. it is certainly not a refined crowd. the locals hate that weekend more than any other in the year because it is a hip hop crowd and they fill the streets but the restaurants are empty!!! consumption takes places mostly at burgers joints. police from the tri county area are all over the place, streets closed, traffic backed up, shootings, stabbings, even rapes. I have lived in this area for 16 years and since this event started most locals actually leave the area. it costs us residents a lot of our tax dollars to hire so many officers around the clock and yet business owners complain that they dont make any money. it is the same story every year. it is mostly a young hip hop crowd. if you are young and into that scene then by all means it is your place. girls with corn rolls, half naked, cursing. i stood out in ocean drive "the strip" to see the happenings and I was in shock. Royal palm is okay, loews next door is much much nicer

Miami and the Beach ,is very interracial , it is fun year 'round.
come on down ,once in Miami Beach ( south point ) You will know what to do. Can't miss a THING.!!
Just be!!
of course , if You are "very picky" about the racial thing ,You will always find the way to complain.
" I don't want people speaking Spanish around me "( or Chinese)
" Why this people in the next table are speaking in German?"
" why this other people is wearing rags around their heads"
" the waiter is late with the food because His is prejudiced"

Stay in South Beach, it´s expensive but worth if you care for nightlife, it´s THE place to be. Also lots of shopping and people watching. Hope you have a good time, good luck! :-)

Yes South beach in particular is a great place to be Memorial Weekend. Check out Nikki's Beach, Lincoln Rd, Ocean Drive and Mangoes.

Yeah it's worth the experience...visit the beach area also check out the main strips Ocean drive,Collins ave,Washington ave and Lincoln Road. Have Fun!

hell yeah ! its gets mad crazy here. and real packed. i suggest walking around Lincoln road
