Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit - Literature?

Hi,
I've been given an essay on the presentation of sexuality in Winterson's 'Oranges.'

I've already decided that I should focus on some of the allegories, the views of the church, Mrs Jewsbury, Melanie and Jeanette's Mother.

However, is there anything else that I've missed out that would be significant in helping me to answer the essay question?

Well my a hole of a college professor seemed to think it was worth leading a class discussion on why the author "chose" to become a lesbian.
