I goto Haugesund every year as my friend lives over there, It's a beautiful town but there is not a great deal to do, you have the port and shops which you could walk round easily in a few hours, also eating and drinking out is expensive so be prepared, I only come back a few weeks ago from Haugesund but we stayed in a place called Bumlow which is an hour away, its beautiful, accommodation only worked out £50 per night for a three bedroom cabin, which was right next to the sea and we also got a boat so done lots of fishing catching cod, Pollock and mackerel, and the scenery was brilliant. One of the locals came by and told us he had just been hunting and killed a deer so gave us so meat at no cost, the people are so friendly. I recommend you get a car as with Norway there are alot of open spaces. See below for link of cabins when we stayed.
