What was the use of the partition of India when there are still so many Muslims living there?

Wasn't the idea of the creation of Pakistan to give Muslims a place of their own to live and if this was so why are there almost as many Muslims still living in India? Surely this is a massive mistake on the part of the British. Shouldn't they have just walked out of India and let the Indians sort this out themselves? Bloodshed? There was still bloodshed and Sindhi Hindus lost their complete homeland.

Additional Details

The worst sufferers were the Sindhi Hindus who now have nowhere to call their own...at least the Punjabis got part of Punjab,..and other Hindu communities had part of their homeland to call their own.

That is an perfect example of India's greatness. Muslims were not forced but given a choice either continue living there or moving to Pakistan/Bangladesh. Wherever Brits went they scraped all wealth and divided people so that they can survive selling arms to them in future.

Partition was good but they didn't do it right! It would have been lot better if they were forced to move! There is no use in gripping about something happened in past! Like Asim said, it's worse than the holocaust.
