What can we do in blackpool?

me and my boyfriend are going away to blackpool on the 30/10/09 until the 1/11/09 just for a short get away and to celebrate being together for a year, our hotel is near the pleasure beach but im unsure if the pleasure beach is worth the cost. any ideas of fun and/or romantic things we can do and are the illuminations still on then? and any idea how much the horse and cart rides are and how long they last and where they pick up and drop off, sorry about all the questions, thanks x

Additional Details

yeah it may be worth it if we were staying longer but i suppose its just another theme park that would take up a day of our trip when we could visit a theme park on a day trip. thanks for the advice :)

The carts generally start round about the town centre, round about coral island and go up to the pleasure beach. THe Illumination are still on at the time you plan to go. Blackpool isn't really that romanitic it's more fun in my opinion but the new promenade around the area that you are staying is very nice. Try taking your partner for a meal on Clifton Street or Queen Street as they have some of the better restaurants.

Pleasure Beach is great, I have been there twice! If you have a taste for extreme rides, Blackpool is the place... those wooden, rickety rollercoasters scared me though! There is also shows that preview regularily, it is all very entertaining... oh and if you go... don't forget to go on Vallhalla, it is superb! I got soaking wet... but my anarac absorbed all the water like a sponge! The scenery is absolutely breath-taking inside the darkened, grim caverns! It is all a bit 'horror movie' but it kept me on the edge of my seat!

i havent been there in ages :) but the pleasure beach is quite fun, but i'm not sure about it being worth it. but, who goes to blackpool and doesnt go on the pleasure beach? :D
errm, the horse and cart rides usually take you wherever you want on the seafront, but you pay accord to distance. go to the blackpool tower, i think the illuminations might be on, not sure.
    have fun :) x

Have fun - do what you like.

Blackpool has so much to do you won't know when to stop.

Pleasure Beach, illuminations, clubs, pubs, people watching (can be very interesting!) Madam Tussuad's waxworks, up and down the Tower.

    Super place to visit

Illuminations are still on and will be throughout the winter months.

As well as the Pleasure Beach (last time I checked it was £20 if you booked online, £30 at the gate, but it changes and I can't be bothered checking the website now), there are the fair ground rides on the piers. There are a lot of clubs in town and the crowds in the pubs usually start as early as 5pm on a weekend (what with all the hen and stag parties in Blackpool). There are some nice restaurants as well, the tram rides, the shops, Sea Life, stuff like that.

A few miles out of Blackpool is Fleetwood, and that has crazy golf, nice fish and chips, and stuff. It's more peaceful, less touristy.
