all non sense, for value for money , horses for the pound , unrivaled comfort it has to be a SAAB 9000 AERO , had several 9000's & every one is a winner baby !! an aero can be got hold of for less than £1000(check e-bay) , Mine cost £250 , they are a 2.3 turbo motor driving 230hp through the front !
For what purpose?
Different cars are designed to meet different needs, and without knowing what you want from it, it is impossible to say which is best.
A LandRover Defender will be a rubbish track-day car, a Caterham will be a rubbish long-distance tourer, a Bugatti Veyron will be useless for taking 5 kids to school, and a Ford S-Max will be rubbish off road, yet all are excellent at what they are intended to do.
The original "best car in the world" was the Rolls Royce Silver Ghost. The accolade hasn't been given to anything else since, so technically it still holds the title.
Obviously many far better cars have been produced in the last 100 years, it depends what purpose you want them for e.g.
fun & performance - Subaru Impreza or Mitsubishi Evo
rallying - Ford Focus
comfort - Rolls Royce
fuel economy - Seat Ibiza or VW polo
parking - currently the Smart, but still not as good as the old Peel single seater
carrying people - Ford Galaxy & other similar, but they're all beaten by van based vehicles like the transit & VW transporter.
Low cost of ownership - anything over 9 years old provided you intend to trade it in for a brand new one in a year's time (the new one will cost loads though)
So what did you want to use your car for?
I guess you don't want the Siver Ghost after all.....
