just go to santo domingo stay in a hotel close to the capital there's a lot fancy clubs but if you really want to go clubbing tell a yellow taxi to take you to avenida venezuela trust me on that one and enjoy it there's a big chance that you will not leave DR single!!!!!

I haven't been to the dominican republic, but loved this book, great insight into people and it's history.

Here are some good B&B's too in Santo Domingo, Puerto Plata and Sosua.

Sosua or Caberete on the North coast. If you are under 30 then Caberete because it has a great beach, kite boarding. Sosua is more of a real town though and there are plenty of places run by ex-pats.

I like hotel Kaoba in Caberete a lot.
