Nice places in the UK for a short honeymoon?

Hi,

Me and my boyfriend are living in Manchester. We are getting married next month, (end october) but because of work we cant take a proper holiday for a honeymoon, which we will be going to the Maldives later in Feb. So at least we want to take a short break now, we've just got 3 nights max. I've not seen much of the Uk.
Can anyone suggest a nice place to visit? Nice, romantic, quiet, countryside, spa etc.. I thought of Bath or Edinburgh.
I would also appreciate personal experience at any specific hotel.
By the way we have a budget of around £500! travelling by train.

Try the Lake District......absolutely beautiful!!! And pretty quiet this time of year.

The small town of Glenridding is stunning.....with lakes and mountains. I know there is a very nice hotel right on the lake....I think it may be a a Best Western.....beautiful, older style building. I did not stay there but had drinks.

I stayed 3 nights at Brackenrigg Inn.....it's about 6 -8 miles northeast of Glenridding. Very nice view and perfectly fine hotel:http://www.brackenrigginn.co.uk/

try premier inn, travel lodge, etc all have website low cost accomodation.

You are in manchester but how much do you know about the north west..

Save money and book day trips around the northwest and discover things like

Liverpool
Beatles Museum
Alton towers
Blackpool
Scarborough
North Yorkshire

All are accessbible and so much to do and use your home as a base.

Take a look at Ludlow (Shropshire) - direct train service from Manchester Piccadilly. Its one of the most beautiful towns in England
