Find a Job and live in London for foreigners?

Hi guys, I'm an Italian girl who wants to move to london for some months.....I know I'm not the only one :-D
Before stumbling there are some things I should know.
1) Considering the world economic crisis, I was wondering how easily (or hardly) a job can be found?? (here in italy find a good job is like winning lottery...)
2) Is it possible for a foreign like me to find a job different from the ones all the other foreigners do?? (no restaurant, no pubs, no hotels). Telling the truth I'm interested in doing the translator, the italian teacher (quite unlikely..), the secretary, or work in a pet shop, be a dog sitter or pet sitting. The most important thing is that I wouldn't do the waitress, the dishwasher etc.
Any suggestions knowing I'm 27 with a degree in modern languages???
Thanks to everyone :-D

With your education you stand more of a chance of finding a job than most who post here looking to move to London.

However, the economy is in a very poor condition here at the moment, I myself have spent the past 6 months looking for a new job after being made redundant from my last one. My degree and experience gives me an edge, but that's the same for everyone else in my position and with a few million unemployed in the UK it's tough.

There are many people offering freelance translation services in London and the UK currently so I think that's a non starter. During my own personal job search I often come across bilingual and multilingual customer support and call centre jobs so that would be your best bet.

Anyway. Good luck.

Frankly, hon, I think you've picked a BLOODY bad time to move over here to England, what with this bloody recession and whatnot, 'cos, (not to sod about on the subject), the bloody job situation's CRAP over here at the minute- (in fact, it's the worst I've EVER bloody well seen it!) NOBODY can find jobs here at the minute, (not even our own bloody BRITISH people!) Take my word for it, hon, stay put for the time bein', and, if ya still fancy it once the recession's over, then think about it again. That's the best advice I can give ya. Peace and love! Be lucky! :)

The good thing about London is that its easy to find jobs. there are lots of opportunities but it depends on how hard you try to find them.

There are lots of recruitment agencies, lots of ads in papers and lots or job websites and lots of Italians. :)

So, come - find a temp job to do immediately and then start looking for a translating job. Alternatively, start checking websites now.
    Londonjobs is a good website.

    Best Wishes
