My friend is from Kuwait and he a College Student in Belfast he would like to travel to London for a weekend?

but his Passport expired in August ,,, can he use his College ID to travel to London ????? i mean is there any Checkpoints between Belfast and London ?? and what is the best way to travel ...

go by sea he wont need a passport

No, he must have a passport & more importantly he must be able to present a valid passport with the visa in it that allows him to live & study in the UK. The student ID proves nothing.

if you drive over (using the ferry) they won't ask any questions, but if you fly you must have a valid passport or a drivers licence (or another form of valid photograpic ID)
