What is barcelona, Spain like?? A good hotel?

Question

I'm trying to book a holiday to barcelona for september! I want a hotel with a swimming pool walking distance from a good beach, shops, restaurants and bars! I don't care a about the rating it has, but it would have to be generally good and also cheap! Any suggestions???

Also what is Barcelona like in general?

You can sort by price, read reviews, see where they are located etc.
You will be surprised at how few hotels in Barcelona have pools.

A word of warning...pick-pockets are rife in Barcelona, and they are so skilled they could teach a degree course in the art of pick-pocketing! They can spot a tourist from a mile off and you won't even know you've been robbed until after.
Be careful with your bag, wallet, cards etc

Thanks a mill 4 all the answers, but I decided I don't want 2 go to Barcelona anymore!! Doesn't seem like my kind of holiday!!

"generally good but also cheap"?

Ever hear the expression: "you get what you pay for"? You either pay for good, or you get cheap.

And, as I recall, not too many hotels with swimming pools near the beach. But that could be because that wasn't what I was looking for.


What you need to do is go to one of those hotel booking sites, and filter down to the hotels, near the beach, with hotels, in your price range....then you go into each one, look at the photos, read the reviews from past guests, and pick that way.

On the other question...Barcelona is fabulous! It is a huuuuuuuuuge spread out city, but you will surely have the best time! There are many sites where you can research the sights of the city, or you can get a guidebook...My fave is DK Eyewitness...great information, really good photos/pictures. Go to a bookstore and browse through a copy...You'll probably want to buy it...You can get all of Spain, or just Barcelona. I think there's a version with Cataluña, as well.
