Recommendations for nice hotels in Barcelona, Spain?

Question

planning a trip to barcelona..anyone been there and have good recommendations on where to stay? we are looking for something not far from the nightlife and restaurants..but quiet and relaxing.. VERY CLOSE to a beautiful/ not incredibly crowded beach.. and where water activities (jet ski) are available! any beautiful relaxing beach recommendations?

Try Regencia Colón hotel in the old city near attractions and restaurants and within walking distance to the beaches.

or Barcelona Princess Sercotel with view on the Mediterranean sea in front of the Forum area.

Well, I planned a trip for my relatives and found that for just three days, it was already cheaper to stay in a nice apartment rather than a hotel. We used Oh Barcelona .com and it was very easy, and I definitly recommend it.

If your really set on a hotel, go to http://www.tripadvisor.com/ . It shows you pictures, along with reviews, which helped alot for the trip we planned. The hotel they were going to had great pictures on the website, but this website showed bad reviews and pictures of mould, in lots of places.

if i remember correctly, the place where everything goes on is on "La Rambla" and in "the triangle".

Plenty of hotels at reasonable rates - plenty of bars and good restaurants too !
p.s. Barcelona isn't in Spain......it's in CATALUNYA !
