Help with hotels in Bangkok?

Hi, my girlfriend and I are going to Thailand in December and are going to spend two days in Bangkok before going on our travels. Can anybody recommend a fairly decent hotel that is central to the main attractions (even the best area would be a help).

You need to write your budget as mentioned

Choose your area Surkuhmvit or Siam or the River area is a bit far
Avoid Pratunam its too busy
And you can see the reviews and give you an idea from what you are looking for within your budget
I have stayed in Bkk hundreds of times and different hotels and styles The best number 1 is Amari Atrium check that out You get the best service top notch rooms and its very quiet You get free shuttles to shopping areas and the subway is near

Dont worry about getting around too much Get a Taxi Meter If they dont want to use tre meter Then say Thank you and get out theres always another

Subway and Skytain give them a try But I find walking to and from and Up and down the stairs etc you dont save too much time and too hot and for the price of 2 people at 40 baht you can get a taxi for the same price air con Maybe you get stuck in traffic but hey its Bangkok its the experience Avoid going into the centre after 5pm up to 8pm thats threre most busy times and go out for the day and get back to your hotel later or before the traffic builds up


2 Days in Bkk is not very long If you can stay more time i would say 4 days is better and see some sights
Travelling on I would recommend Huahin for a beach trip 3 hours by taxi or Mini Bus or the bus expect to pay 2500 baht one way for a taxi
Shopping centre go to MBK and also Central World has been completely renovated and has a Cinema and everything you need

MBK You will lose a day walking around but its another must visit
place if you want Mobiles and Gadgets and general shopping etc

I like to stay near Nana/Asoke train stations... it's a good distance from the Palace, and all that stuff, but it's close to Soi Cowboy and Nana Plaza.

the asia hotel in bangkok would be fine, stopped there three times, some say its a bit old fashioned, but i love the place, it is a large hotel with its own shops and restaurants, and the lift operators dress as bell boys, you can catch the sky train on the roof of the hotel, and buy your tickets for the train at the hotel, plus there are plenty of tuk tuk.s for the more adventurous traveller, as i said the decor is very old fashioned, but it is a very nice hotel with excellent staff. anyway whatever hotel you stop at, make sure you go on the sky train as it takes you all round bangkok and if you have a day pass you can get on and off all day long and take in all bangkok.

When you need hotel recommendations always mention how much per night you want to pay for that room. This will narrow down the choices you get because a price range for a hotel with air and private toilet will run from around 600 baht to 6000 per night.

My recommendation is to get a hotel near the Skytrain route. That way you can use that overhead transportation for getting around town quick and easy. If you are a kid or real young perhaps staying in the Khao San Road area will be okay. No Skytrain stop though!

I prefer the Sukhumvit/Siam area where you have hotels in various price ranges and close to the Skytrain.

Here are some travel forums you can look over for help and specific questions. Pay particular attention to transportation from the airport, using meter taxi cabs and some of the scams you may encounter.

Don't waste all of your time only at beaches. Even in Bangkok and Chiang Mai you can get a tan just walking around.

I reccomend the Grand Tower Inn Rama VI, they have a website (google it and check it out) it is only like 40USD a night i think, it is a 4 star hotel, and has a great resteraunt. Only a 10 min walk to the Sky train, or short cab ride to the Metro (and dont worry cab rides are only like 2 dollars for a 20 min ride)

I love bangkok every thing is so cheap in thailand lol

HI you cant go wrong staying at the Bel-Aire Princess Soi5 sukhumvit road which is the main street for everything .The hotel is 2mis from nana sky train station

We have been to lots of hotels in Bangkok this month, you pay for what you get, Pinnacle hotel is good but seedy, Silom Regent is cheapish but more a serviced apartment and not a hotel.
Our favourite for the same price is Narai hotel, on Silom Road, very central and excellent food, spotlessly clean and great swimming pool. Some very good deals on currently, so have sent you the link.
Ask for Mr Kwang in Pepitos buffet, he will take extra care of you both.

i wil definately recommend this 1 as it's rite in the heart of shopping area. linked w/ the skytrain. newly renovated / dun scared by it's outlook as it's just done their renovation. not expensive at all but yet v v convenience.

the 2 largest malls in Bangkok r just walking distance.... the Central World + Siam Paragon. then the famous thai buddha is just opp. the hotel which every tourists wil go.

When I lived in Bangkok, I stayed at an apartment named Ruen Indra. It is also an inn for short-term visitor.
The price was fair for the location (near the boat on Chao Praya River) but I can't recall the exact price I paid. It's more sensible than the tourist-oriented hotels.
I liked that place a lot. It was near the university, and near the malls.
Also, the best food I've tasted in all of Thailand, was from the restaurant in that inn.
