You don't say where you are. In England prostitution has never been an offence in itself. Everything connected with it is illegal but prostitution is not an offence.

Don't understand why it is myself, if someone wants to sell themselves for money they should be allowed too.
What some people don't understand is there are alot of people in the world that can't get sex so easily, so they have no option but to pay for it to satisfy a need, why should they be made to feel dirty or like a criminal, everyone enjoys sex so why should they miss out !
Its illegal of course because of disease and slavery etc. i.e. people being forced into the trade, however I feel that if it was legalised and monitored it would be alot easier to keep disease and slavery out of the trade and also governments could make some money taxing the prostitutes, so everyone would be a winner !

Along with possession of marijuana, prostitution is something which is not criminal in most countries of the world. There are just controls placed on it by the government.

Because if it was legal, it would be controlled by government, which would inflict taxes on it, and this is definitely something that the people who control it would not want. Mafia is in charge of things like that, and even the governments are usually unable to fight against that. Plus, another thing mafia would lose, is the ability to bring unwilling girls into business because once it's legal - it's clean. Prostitution brings loads of money, and where money is involved, blood is shed. It's dangerous.
