Would Kindle DX work out of the US?

Question

I'm planning to buy a Kindle DX device, but I will be moving to Iran in less than a month, and I want to know if I can access blogs and newspapers and magazines, and of course the choice of 1500 titles bookshop there. The Kindle DX uses no cables, and has no monthly payment, and the signal system it needs to access all of the above is basically like your regular cell phone. Cell phones from outside of Iran don't work there unless unlocked and if u have he simcard changed to an Iranian one. But Kindle DX doesn't use a simcard, and isn't locked in the first place so will it work?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

The wireless network won't work, but other functions will work.

No, the cell service will not work outside the US.

There will not be Whispernet (the free internet network of the Kindle) outside the US, because Whispernet is supported here by Sprint and it only provides service within US.

However, all functions other than Whispernet will work. You can still download books or newspapers with a computer that has internet access, then synchronize it to the Kindle. There is a very good discussion here about how to use the Kindle outside US:

Of course, it is best if you can buy most of the books you want and download to the Kindle when you're still in US. Books will then be stored in your Kindle and you can read it anywhere.

You will not be able to use the Kindle DX to connect to internet. However, you can still use a computer and copy things to your Kindle through USB...
