Would Kindle DX work out of the US?

I'm planning to buy a Kindle DX device, but I will be moving to Iran in less than a month, and I want to know if I can access blogs and newspapers and magazines, and of course the choice of 1500 titles bookshop there. The Kindle DX uses no cables, and has no monthly payment, and the signal system it needs to access all of the above is basically like your regular cell phone. Cell phones from outside of Iran don't work there unless unlocked and if u have he simcard changed to an Iranian one. But Kindle DX doesn't use a simcard, and isn't locked in the first place so will it work?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Please help!

The wireless network won't work, but other functions will work.

There is a great discussion here about using the Kindle internationally, and also downloading newspaper subscription abroad:

You may be interested in this review too, which talks about how to get the best out of the Kindle DX:
