Best resort in Cuba for young couple?

My boyfriend and I are in our early 20s and really like the idea of going to Cuba next year. Does anyone have any suggestions of the best resorts for younger people? I've heard Varadero is close to a few bars and clubs but I don't want to book our hols and find we're in the wrong resort! Also, I've heard the Palma Real hotel in Varadero is worth avoiding, is that true?

If you are planning to go to Varadero, the best resorts are Sol Melia and Iberostar.

For you I would recommend these. Just make sure you book a hotel that is no less than a 4* for ensuring quality:

in Cuba the most of the resort are for young people ,there is Brisa guardalava ,holguin very good ,and it is more like for people that wants to have fun ,there is some disco there and pluss it is so close from the city thaat if you want can rent a car and go in the night to some nights club ,it is nice ,

My favourite resort in Varadero would be Sol Palmeras it is a 4* with good food. There is a mini train service going to the mall daily. Mall has many stores and a Pizza Nova. This resort is about a 10 minute drive to all Night Clubs.

Now if you want to party and drink all night I would suggest going to Santa Lucia, Cuba (Camaguey) and stay at the 4* Brisas Santa Lucia. You will be a 3 minute walk from a new and popular night club. It is $5.00 to get in all you can drink. They are open till 3AM. Then if you still want to party you can walk another 5 minutes to Rumbles. It's free to get in and drinks Average $1.00. They are open until the last customer leaves usually 7AM.

I belive there will be some resorts in Holguin/ Gaurdalavaca (sorry no idea how to spell it)
i stayed at Playa Pesquero, it was a really nice hotel that will suit all sorts of people

Please don´t stay in a resort like Varadero. If you want to have an amazing time and also see what Cuba is really all about the best thing to do is stay in a casa particular in Vedado or Habana centro.

The casas are extremely comfortable and the owners are amazing, You will also get to see the ´real´Cuba. Alternatively you could alternate..a few days in veradero with a hotel/casa particular in La Habana, it really depends how long you are going for. I think you will have the best time in the centre though. There are some great clubs/shows around vedado and central Habana such as caberet national, la casa de musica, el cafe del jazz etc..
