Morocco - What can you tell?

Hi,
I'm planning to visit Morocco in December to get away from our bleek winter.

I'm currently doing the usual reasearch and was wondering if anyone has been recently and can give a first hand account of some of the points below.

* Probaby going to staying in Agadir most of the 10 days. Looking for a decent/clean hotel/apartment room only at a good rate.
* Car hire - best quote so far is £185 for a megane or similar for 7 days
*Will be wanting to have a drive to Casablanca from Agadir, so therefore possibly stopping over night in El Jadida or Casablanca itself - Again looking for a good apartment.
* From Casablance to Marrakech - clean - value for money hotel

Please mention any sights worth seeing along the way and also any trips into the mountains from Agadir.

Any information is appreciated.

I forgot to mention that there are 3 adults, one child and an infant, so the apartment must be suitable for a family.

Thank you

I just got back from Morocco. We stayed mostly in Casblanca but had a 4 day trip to Agadir. There isn't much to see on the way to Agadir...a few small towns that looked interesting. Well, thats not entirely true because you could stop in Marrakech. But Marrakech is really touristy and packed with people these days....After arriving in Agadir, we stayed at the Ibis. It was clean, decent price and had a nice pool. It was within walking to the Sunday Market a huge souk. You have to haggle like crazy over eveything but the prices here are much better than in Casablanca. The port in Agadir has great seafood but stick to all the fried seafood for 34 DH. I made the mistake of adding some large shrimp and a lobster tail and got my bill up to 700 DH!! Stupid on my part.

Hope you have lots of fun!!

I'm not much help on this stuff, I just want to let you know don't worry about the other answer.
Car hire: I have found the cheapest prices on car rental in Morocco using the travel agency sites like orbitz, hotwire, and priceline. In Marrakech I suggest staying in a Riad rather than a apartment or hotel, and I've noticed really good suggestions on travel websites.
I don't expect to be the best answer I just want to give you some advice!

I've been to Agadir and found it to be a beautiful and peaceful city. The beach is clean and beautiful, there is a good fish restaurant, some nice souks and many restaurants along the beach. There wasn't a lot of hassle in Agadir either.

Morocco is wonderful, you can find excellent hotels in a good price you should consult a local travel agency for booking you on time.

I hope your trip goes better than mine. When I visited Agadir, My family was drugged, robbed, and dropped on the side of the road 25+ miles from anything. They took everything we had...Laptops, phones, wallets/purses, looted my hotel room, and stole my rental car. The police were not helpful at all and seemed to think we did something to deserve it. They would not even let my 6 year old daughter go to the bathroom for over 8 hours so she ended up peeing herself and having to sit in it until they had us processed. Then we were essentially homeless while the US figured out how to get us home since all our ID's and passports were stolen. Pretty much the most horrific experience of my life and I will never go back there again.

i recently went to morocco and really enjoyed myself, me and my family had no trouble what so ever! Its unlucky and unfortunate if you have had bad experiences of morocco like a few of these previous answers but you can have bad experiences like that anywhere including your home country!
I stayed in agadir in a riu hotel called tikida beach, it was all inclusive so im not sure if that's what your looking for, and also not sure what its like in the winter or if its even open :S
But me and my family went on a 4X4 trip into the atlas mountains and really enjoyed it. It included a tour guide, air-conditions 4X4, breakfast in a berber village house, donkey ride and lunch in a hotel, all very good :) we booked this through out thomson rep but im sure there are other ways of doing this too.
    Hope this helps!!

Hello,I had nice time in Morocco although I heard lot bad things about Morocco.Any bad things can happen to anyone whereever you go in the world. But as you have a will to go,just venture and I am sure, you will enjoy it.My tour package was organised by Rough Tours company and had good experience with these people.I am on the process of writing my trip trip and will post here as soon as possible. If you like to have a look at the company website, you can have some details about different tours in Morocco.www.roughtours.com
Do not forget while visiting to insist on visiting something from each place as Morocco is the land of contrast.
    have nice trip

Morocco is a great country to visit, though /agadir being the most touristic.

Take a day trip into the mountains with a guided tour. try the Argan oil and the amlou - ground almonds in olive oil its delish and can only be purchased in those parts. the area surrounding Agadir is the only place your children will see goats climbing trees!

Essaouira and the port there is amazing the port is like a mini city. Accommodation is easily found in Essaouira people dangle keys in front of you as you arrive it is clean good accommodation and you can visit the appartments before you agree to rent.

Agadir has many reasonable hotls: I am unsure about appartments but look on www.lonwlyplanet.com

Casablanca has a beautiful Mosque - 2nd largest in the world and is open to public viewing. The beach is fine but probably a little chilly in December.

I cannot advise on El Jadida as I have not been there, though many say it is a great place for tourists.

If you are travelling that far up, I would most definitely detour and visit Marrakech it is only 2 hours from Agadir by car, Casablamca is around 3 hours from Marrakech. There is much to be seen in and around Marrakech and a beautiful appartments -for around 600Dirhams for the night for all of you, yull have to haggle the price
