Venice and verona hotel and transport between the two.?

Question

I was thinking of going to Venice to ask my girlfriend to marry me. Does anyone know a good but not silly expensive place to stay that's romantic. Does anyone also know how easy it is to get to Verona and I'd also like some suggestions of where to stay there as well. also what's the weather like that time of year in northern Italy?

It's very easy to travel between Verona and Venice on the train. I live about an hour south of Verona and do this frequently. Hotel prices vary a lot depending on exactly when you're here. Right now is the peak of the tourist season and prices are pretty high. You didn't actually say when you were planning on coming. In Verona, I like to stay at the Hotel Verona - it's a block and a half from Piazza Bra where the old Roman colosseum, L'Arena, is and easy walking distance to the train station. It also has free wireless internet access. I stay there when I have an early flight out of the Verona airport, but it's a good spot for sightseeing too. http://www.venere.com/hotels/verona/hote…

If you are going to propose then you need something decent and romantic. The Metropole (http://www.venice-italy-veneto.com/metro… and the Danieli are good and if you go the right time of year you can get good bargains.

It is easy to get to Verona from Venice. The trains run every hour or so and take around an hour.

The most romantic place in Italy if you ask me is not Venice though even though Venice is right up there near the top of the list.

Lake Orta and the Castle of Pavone are my favourites...

I can only tell you that it's really easy to move from venice to verona with the train. It is around 15 20 euros each ticket and it takes 2 hours. unless you prefer cheaper ticket so it takes one hour more.
Both train stations are close to the city centre.
Best time to go now it's September, and don't forget cream or lotion for mosquito's!!!!! Between 6pm and 10pm they are really bad!

Conley 39 has the best suggestions. But if you want to stay somewhere romantic and quaint, check out the Hotel flora. Very romantic and within walking distance of San Marcos Square.
