I want to visit a beach in Devon but i can see n Plymouth?

Hi All,

I am getting a bit confused, I just want to go to the coast in Devon, but when i search hotels.com and type in Devon, i get hotels in Plymouth, East Devon etc.

Can someone tell me the nice places to go in Devon

Additional Details

Thanks Guys for the answers.

I just want to relax by the coast, take walks, beach football/volleyball, visit places, go out at night time and head back to the capital on a sunday.

So its just for a weekend relaxation by the coast, also somewhere where its not too crowded. I'm also on a budget, so i dont want to overspend.

NB. Bude is in Cornwall, not Devon.
Sounds as though Torbay is your answer. That ticks all the boxes.
You could try Exmouth, but you may have to travel into Exeter for some things. Sidmouth has a lot of elderly residents, and the beach very pebbly.
There isn't much doing on the North Devon coast unless you are on a Holiday Park. At least not much night-life. The cliffs are very high, so not that many beaches. You could try Barnstaple/Bideford/Instow, all on tidal rivers. Barnstaple has night-life. You could go to the beach at Westward Ho! from there.
Anywhere on the Devon Coast is good for walks. The Coastal footpath goes all around Devon and Cornwall.

It depends what you want to do there. The North Devon coast such as croyde and Bude has more and normally better surfing beaches etc...

The south coast has some surfing beaches like bantham and lots of little villages and small towns which are nice to visit. Torquay, dartmouth, salcombe (pricey in summer) are all nice places on the coast and im sure you can find nice hotels around. There are also smaller places along the coast where you can find B and Bs and campsites if not hotels.

All Devon is nice and it really does depend what you want to do. The south coast has lovely coast paths which go all around and you can walk for hours or days if you really want.

Let us know more specifically the sort of thing you want so i can be more specific.

I must correct 'sinkinfeelin' and agree with 'steffi' because he put that Bude was on the North coast of Devon when actually it is in North Cornwall but yeah Bude is a nice place if you wanted to come to Cornwall.

Dawlish is a nice place - relaxing, beach, train transport, shops and other things but I don't know Devon that well so you may have to do a little more research yourself on the internet.

Search Torbay. Torquay would be a good place to go in Devon, and Paignton is about 10 minutes drive from there.
